Dear Mr. Langland, thank you very much for your insightful comment. Look, If you had one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted, in one moment, would you capture it or just let it slip?

Swingin’ on the front porch. Swingin’ on the lawn. Swingin’ where we want ‘cause there ain’t nobody home. Swingin’ to the left and swingin’ to the right. If I think about baseball I’ll swing all night yeah.

“Show me how you do that trick, the one that makes me scream” she said.
“The one that makes me laugh” she said, and threw her arms around my neck.
“Show me how you do it and I promise you I promise that I’ll run away with you.

Swingin’ in the living room. Swingin’ in the kitchen. Most folks don’t ’cause they’re too busy bitchin’. Swingin’ in there ’cause she wanted me to feed her. So I mixed up the batter and she licked the beater. Spinning on that dizzy edge I kissed her face and kissed her head and dreamed of all the different ways I had to make her glow.

“Why are you so far away?” she said. “Why won’t you ever know that I’m in love with you? That I’m in love with you?”

I scream you scream, we all scream for her. Don’t even try ’cause you can’t ignore her. She’s my cherry pie. Cool drink of water. Such a sweet surprise. Tastes so good. Make a grown man cry. Sweet cherry pie. You. Soft and only. You. Lost and lonely. You. Strange as angels dancing in the deepest oceans, twisting in the water. You’re just like a dream.

Swingin’ to the drums. Swingin’ to guitar. Swingin’ to the bass. In the back of my car. Ain’t got money. Ain’t got no gas. But we’ll get where we’re goin’ if we swing real fast.

Swing it! All night long. Swingin the bathroom. Swingin’ on the floor. Swingin’ so hard we forgot to lock the door. In walks her daddy standin’ six foot four.

He said, “You ain’t gonna swing with my daughter no more.”

Daylight licked me into shape. I must have been asleep for days. And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes and found myself alone, alone, alone above a raging sea that stole the only girl I loved and drowned her deep inside of me. She’s my cherry pie, put a smile on your face ten miles wide. Looks so good, bring a tear to your eye – Sweet cherry pie.
